Introducing: Lara Johnston

American recording artist Lara Johnson is clearly on the rise with her powerful voice and fiery, captivating stage presence. Touring tirelessly, Lara Johnston has performed in the United States, Europe and Canada as she has shared the stage with Michael McDonald, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Miller, Neil Patrick Harris, E.G. Daily, Sam Harris and Tisha Campbell-Martin. She has performed as the opening act for Willie Nelson, KISS, Tower of Power, Heart, Sammy Hagar, Huey Lewis, Pablo Cruise, Journey and Cheap Trick. She also won 3rd place in the prestigious BMI Foundation John Lennon Scholarship Competition. Not many 21 year olds can attract the attention of some of the most powerful names in music as Lara has.

What makes her so captivating, aside from her beauty, is the powerful voice that comes from within her. Lara writes her own songs (sometimes collaborating with her favorite writers from Nashville to Los Angeles) and performs them effortlessly with a range of influences including Pop, Funk, Gospel, Rock, Jazz and Blues. Perhaps her favorite is soul music. She was inspired at a young age by Aretha Franklin. She has truly achieved her aspiration and inspiration; to channel Aretha's powerful, emotional and heartfelt story telling, making Lara the extraordinary artist that she has become. Lara will be touring as the opening act for the Doobie Brothers as follows:

Lara and her band will be performing songs from her upcoming 12 song album scheduled for release later this year. As part of the tour promotion and in an on-going effort to thank her fans for their support, she will be giving away a free download to all concert goers of a new single off her not-yet-released album called "Party's Over", and will be autographing her January 2010 5-song EP at the merchandise table after her performances.
