Video Scope: Jessica Simpson - I Wanna Love You Forever

"I Wanna Love You Forever" is a debut music video from American recording artist Jessica Simpson. It was premiered for her debut single "I Wanna Love Your Forever" which is available as track from her studio album "Sweet Kisses" on 1999.

As her debut video, careful attention was made to make sure that Jessica Simpson's virginal image would be used as the "anti-sex appeal" to draw viewers in. Directed by Bille Woodruff, the video does not follow the dramatic story told in the song at all and instead centers on Jessica Simpson in a photo shoot. The photo shoot starts out with Ms. Simpson being photographed in front of a giant airplane as she wears a white outfit with a blue jacket. The song then shifts to a new scene in which Ms. Simpson has removed her jacket and is now in front of sunflowers.

The video seems to take things slowly, but in a dramatic turn of events, the sunflower scene is literally pushed over, to reveal the song's final scene: Jessica Simpson covered only in black on a dramatic soundstage lighted with blue lights. The video also features shots intercut with the making of the video of Jessica Simpson and her personal girlfriends. One of those girlfriends in the video is Jessica's little sister Ashlee Simpson. Although the video shoot is commonly believed to be a fake one, it appears that the video breaks the fourth wall as photos of the photographer taking photos apparently exist.

Jessica Simpson once spoke of the idea for a second video but this one was never made.

The video debuted on TRL on 23 November 1999 at #10.

Katy Perry has revealed that she was inspired to write the track after running naked through a park. According to Music Rooms, Katy Perry claims that after a wild night of partying and streaking, she wrote the song about her antics the next day. Katy Perry revealed: "There's nothing better than an impromptu dance party with my friends. My track "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" is a song about debauchery because I had one of those nights in Santa Barbara. We went out to this place called Wildcat and got crazy", Katy Perry admitted: "We had a couple of beers and danced until we died, then brought the party back to the hotel room". She added: "Most of that song is actual truth, apart from the ménage à trois... unfortunately! But, yes, streaking in the park, that's what we did, so we had to write a song about it the next day!" Bonnie McKee, the co-writer of the song stated "T.G.I.F. is pretty much a word for word description of our trip to Santa Barbara, so I love that one. It's really kitschy and fun and makes me nostalgic".

Video Scope: Nelly Furtado - I'm Like A Bird

The CGI-based music video for "I'm Like A Bird" was directed by Francis Lawrence. The video begins in the sky where the camera slowly pans down onto Nelly Furtado, who is lying in the grass. It then shows her singing on a tree trunk in mid-air. In the chorus she gets up and starts singing to the camera while birds are flying around her. The second verse shows her sitting in mid-air in a forest, while singing to the camera. The chorus consists of flashes of Furtado singing in mid-air, again, while leaning on the tree trunk. During the bridge she is singing to a bug while her eyes change colour. The conclusion of the video shows her falling backwards from a branch into a mosh-pit as she sings the final chorus of the song. The last shot pans out to reveal a crowd of millions.

Official music video is copyrighted by Geffen Records on 2000.
